Who Is the Most Eloquent in Society?
“Who has possessed the most convincing eloquence thus far? The drumbeat; and as long as kings have this at their command, they will always be the best orators and popular agitators.” - Friedrich Nietzsche, The Joyous Science
Nietzsche’s quote about kings controlling the drumbeat in society explains morality, war propaganda and power in society.
The Shaping of Morals in Society
Elites in society, such as kings, have always controlled what’s considered moral and noble. Elites can dictate to the masses (those people who aren't elite and makeup about 95% of a given society) what is considered moral, just, valuable and noble. That which is good, noble, and moral is determined by the ruling elite.

The Drumbeat of War
Historically, drums have been used for hundreds of years to communicate military drills, ceremonies, and warfare. The king or ruling elite have always controlled the drumbeat of war. The elite decide when and who goes to power. Immense power and control are determined and gained through warfare.
The ruling elite also are in control of the oration and spread of propaganda in warfare. As the saying goes, “the first casualty in war is the truth.” The ruling elite determine what information the public receives. Even the so called “free press” are fed a narrative by the ruling elite regarding war information. If the free press releases damning information about the lies of the ruling elite in warfare, the elite can shut down the free press.
Through their power and control, ruling elite makes themselves the most eloquent and persuasive orators during war.
