Industrious Thinkers Needed
The study of philosophy has helped us to answer several important questions about science, law, medicine, etc. Philosophy is the search for knowledge and by using it we can answer several more important questions about our existence.
INDUSTRIOUS THINKERS
Industrious thinkers are still needed to answer life’s big questions. In his book, “The Joyous Science,” Friedrich Nietzsche highlights several important subject matters that still need answers to help us understand ourselves better:
“Have the various ways of dividing the day, the consequences of appointing regular times for labour, rest and festival, ever been made the subject of investigation? Do we know the moral effects of food? Is there a philosophy of nutrition?…Have the experiences of living together, for example the experience of monasteries, been collected? Has the dialectic of marriage and friendship ever been represented?”
In other words, there are still questions about our daily activities, routines, culture, etc. that still have not been answered. It is the role of philosophy that helps provide us with these answers. Some questions may take several generations to still answer though.
This task requires serious thinkers, people who are willing to dig deeper into the actions of our lives. All of this is important to understand why we do what we do and give us greater self-awareness.
