Defeat a Narcissist by Doing This One Thing
One common tactic that narcissists use to control and manipulate their targets is use rage. One way to defeat the narcissistic rage is to stand up to them, even if it’s dangerous.
THE NARCISSTS AMONG US
Some estimates that I’ve seen show that narcissists may be around 20% of the population or more. Most of us have come across a narcissist at least once in our lives.
Some traits of narcissism are:
A lack of empathy for others
Emotional manipulation
Rage and anger that doesn’t match the situation (blowing things out of proportion)
Belittling and shaming others, etc.
Rage and Anger Outbursts
While the other traits of narcissism are a problem as well, rage is very destructive since it could entail violence.
In order to control their targets, narcissists will use anger and rage outbursts at the slightest issue. The narcissist will yell, shout, threaten, and sometimes use violence to cause emotional imbalance in their victim. This allows the narcissist to control and dominate their victim of targeting since their victim is out of balance.
Due to childhood abuse from parents and trauma, narcissists learn from an early age that, “the world is dangerous and to dominate others before they dominate you.” That’s the twisted mentality that narcissists are brought up with.
Narcissists do not acknowledge reciprocity, equality of treatment, or the feelings of others. All they understand is superiority. They’re always right and you’re always wrong is their mentality.
STAND UP TO NARCISSISTS
Narcissists are predators.
Narcissists are abusers.
Narcissists thrive off of power.
Generally, to defeat the control of narcissists, its recommended to avoid them, not engage in arguments with them, and stay calm when they’re trying to upset you.
One recommendation that isn’t talked about much is standing up to them when they try to emotionally, verbally or physically abuse and manipulate you.
This may feel frightening and dangerous standing up to a raging narcissist, but sometimes there are no other options but to be dangerous. Standing up to a narcissist main entail forcibly telling them what behaviors you’ll not tolerate, disengage and walk away, or worst-case scenario use self-defense to protect yourself or others.
Make sure if you have to defend yourself, you do so in a law-abiding manner and never be the initial aggressor.
In real life, there are no referees or anyone who will save you.
You must save yourself first and foremost.
As philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche has discussed regarding living dangerously:
“For believe me - the secret to harvesting the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from existence is to live dangerously! Build your cities on the slope of Vesuvius!” Send your ships into uncharted seas!”
Dr. Jordan Peterson has an excellent short video on Youtube discussing this.
Sometimes, you have to fight fire with fire and not back down, in defense only.
